The three schools I picked were Auburn, Penn State, and LSU.
Auburns revenue that was generated was a total of 92,611,558.00 and the department spent a total of 90,908,902.00 so they earned a total of or made a profit of 1,702,656.00.The department made this much money after all expenses. The three primary sources of revenue were ticket sales, contributions, and conference revenues. The three primary expenses were coaches salaries, staff salaries, and athletic student aids.
Penn State:
The total revenue at Penn State is 106,614,724.00. And the department spent 88,041,921.00 After all expenses the department made around 17 million dollars! The three primary sources of revenue were ticket sales, contributions, and tournament revenue. The three main expenses were student aid, coaches salaries, and staff salaries.
LSU:

Magic and Bird Courtship of Rivals review
Magic Johnson was born for the spotlight and always knew what he wanted to do at a young age. There was a lot of racial tension in his school while he was growing up but he was seen as the guy that could fit in every crowd and he pushed through this tension and everyone liked him. He just shrugged this tension off. A reporter gave him the nickname magic and he stuck with it throughout his career. Larry Bird was magic's competition and he was picked for a team that played against magic johnson. He was seen as a hermit he didn't like interviews and he was raised tough. So he was seen as the complete opposite as magic. Bird played for Indiana state and Johnson played for michigan. This movie showed that they were complete rivals but could play on a team together and play well with each other. A little healthy competition can go a long way. I really enjoyed watching this story about these complete opposites come together and play on the all american team.

Straight Outta LA Response
This video about the raiders was very interesting. This team had really good defenses and really represented the heart of LA when they were moved to Los angeles. It was a merger of gangster football and gangster rap. And even though they moved again out of LA the logo will always be connected to LA. This team was rough around the edges and violent. They were a very good team and had a lot of players in the hall of fame. They had great energy in Los Angeles and they were excited and energetic in this city. They were a violent team and los angeles was a violent city so it seemed like the perfect match. Ice Cube talks about the raiders in a heart felt way and he makes it clear that the raiders will always belong to LA.
project proposal
For my project that I will present to the class I would like to do the topic Women's Golf and I will call this project from the red tee's. I will explore and teach the class about women's influence in the golf industry and the sport itself. There are many professional women golfers but many people do not understand their influence on the sport and their fans. I will also explore why women are important to this sport and why they are just as important as men when it comes to competing. I will give examples of some professionals who are women and how they have changed the sport in a positive way and this project is really meant to show the class that golf is great sport for both genders.
Guiding questions:
1) why are women beneficial in this sport?
2) What is the difference between men and women in this sport and why should this be overlooked?

Lou Zamperini
I really found this story entertaining and I fell in love with Lou the more his story went on. I felt like he had gone through so much in his life like the plane crash, time in the prison on the island, and then being moved around Japan. But he never gave up. I thought it was funny when him and phillips were talking about how when they were on the raft after a while they had Lou talk about recipes that he would make for them he said that he would make them breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday and that it felt like they were really eating. His comment that followed was and after a while they got greedy and wanted brunch. I thought that it was really good of him to follow God and learn from his experiences and forgive all of the people that mistreated him.
Alive and Kicking Response
I found this story touching and really interesting. This school bus driver who was transporting war refugees came up with the idea for a soccer team and was very passionate and driven in her decision. She had the three boys that were on her bus search far and wide for other team members. They ended up with 23 at the practice the next day who were not ready to be a team in any way. They did not have cleats or uniforms on and didn't seem very prepared. She discovered that they were from Afghanistan and Sudan and she had a blast with these boys. No one believed she could coach these boys because she was female but she was the best on her teams growing up and she knew she could do it and she pushed past the negativity which i admire greatly. She cared for the boys. An example of this was when the boys were supposed to have practice but were hiding behind a dumpster because of a fight. She went to the one teammates house and made sure he was ok and took him to the hospital. She seemed very nurturing throughout this story. She also proved this in the fire as well. She met tracy one day when her funds seemed to be gone for her team and tracy answered all her prayers.

The Beloved Pat Tillman
This story of Pat Tillman touched my on many levels. I thought that he was really showing what his country meant to him by turning down the millions of dollars that were offered to him at his signing deal to fight for his country. This article mentioned that he felt like the happenings on September 11th called to him and made him feel like it was something that had to be done which is understandable because it seems like a lot of men and women felt this way in America. He was described in many ways throughout this article but the one description that stuck with me about him was his dedication. He did not quit. And his family proved to be the same way. Even after his death his brother re enlisted even though it proved to be too much to him. But he felt like he had to fight again in his brothers name. His mother proved to be the same way. After Pat's death she fought for answers. Things did not add up for her and she searched for more. I agree with her though and i'm on her side of this story. The things that the army were saying just did not add up and found this to be very sad for his family. I really felt bad for Russ to in the end. He went through so much with Pat's death and then he had to deal with his son's death on top of this. He found a glimpse of hope when his son survived the surgery but when he died a little while later I really felt for him.
This story about Pat really touched me and it just shows us all that anything can happen and if we believe in something we need to be dedicated to it and fight for it.

Pure Heart position paper
This compelling story by William Nack explores his relationship with the secretariat and how this horse represented the happiest moments within his life. He leads us through his fondest memories with this horse and expresses them with deep emotion.
I really enjoyed reading this article after seeing the movie about the secretariat last week. This article really helped me to understand the story of this horse and was a interesting look at what I would consider was like a behind the scenes look of the story and the movie that captivated audiences everywhere including me.
One of the parts that caught my interest was about the autopsy with Dr. Thomas Swerczek and the results of this lab. He went on to mention that most horses have a heart that weighs up to nine pounds but the secretariat’s was a third larger than any other equine heart the doctor had ever seen.
This author seemed to connect with this horse on a personal level and really used his emotions in this article to show the reader what these memories felt like for him and at times the horse as well. He was a true follower of this colt. An example of this in the article is when he mentions that he had a daily front-row seat to watch him. It was very affectionate that he kept the feather that bothered secretariat and showed it off to his friends frequently that a piece of memorabilia.
This story was very heart-warming and I found it to be very sentimental.
Ode to Southern Football Response
I thought that this article titled Ode to Southern Football was very creative and unique. You hear about fans being die hard and not being able to wait till college football season but this article is so different from other things i’ve heard like it. Wright Thompson takes his love for southern football to a different level by not only being enthusiastic about one southern team but about southern football in general.
I loved how he didn’t just write what he felt it was as though he was using all his senses in his writing. He made me feel like I was in his visions of these football stadiums during game time. I could smell, taste, and touch the things he was talking about in this love letter he wrote to this passion of his. For example when he says “ I love air-conditioning, and I love cocktails in the gloaming on the city grocery balcony, and I love a plate of shrimp and grits when the sun finally goes down.” I can really connect with this style of writing rather than just hearing facts about different southern teams that are on their way to another season.
I also really liked the little humorous sections within this article. I found it really funny when he mentioned that he would not even plan a funeral when Alabama is playing Auburn and that you could die but you would have to wait till Monday. I can really relate to that comment because I know I look forward to the Iron Bowl every year!
This article or love letter is a true dedication to the south and the people of the south that love their football and I really enjoyed reading it.
position paper # 1 topic
My topic for the first position paper of the semester is going to be interesting. I decided to go in the direction of race issues in sports. My position will be from a conflict stand point. My topic will be about how African Americans used to not be allowed to play in the PGA. I will probably go on to mention how this association has evolved and how allowing all cultures to participate has changed the game in a way no one had expected example player Tiger Woods. :)

Personal Sports Biography
I don't honestly have a lot of experience with sports. I actually have not been on any kind of team until last year. My boyfriend Chris was really into golf and I figured I would try and get into the sport as well for us to have something we could do together. Well it turns out I really loved it! I heard that there was an opening on the women's golf team a week later and I decided to learn everything I could about golf and devote a lot of my time to practicing. I started playing in May of 2010 last year and my first actual game of golf was awful. I think I shot around a 130! wow! I'm still not that good but i'm down to shooting in the 90's. But I honestly do love playing!
I remember my first negative experience with golf was during my first tournament. Nothing horrible happened or anything but I just felt like a complete underdog playing against these girls who were shooting pars or lower on every hole. But i've gotten used to it and that's what motivates my practice now. I will be that good soon!
One positive experience I have had with the sport is actually belonging to something. I love my friends mackenzie and megan that are on the team with me and we really get along great. They are both very helpful and I honestly feel like we are a little family in a way. :)
My favorite sport to follow is of course golf I could watch the golf channel all day. Paula Creamier is my favorite LPGA player and I follow her on twitter. I also do like watching the braves play. I try to make it out to at least 2 or 3 games each summer. I really like Heyward he's my favorite!
I'm not really a football fan but the Superbowl is a must watch for me. This is going to sound bad but I like watching all the hype before the game and I like watching the half time show. When my family gets together to watch it or I go to a Superbowl party I just get into the game because of the atmosphere and everyone else is so into it so it kinda interests me then. I also like watching all LPGA events and of course the Masters.
My least favorite sports to follow would have to be Nascar, Hockey, and soccer. All of which are really boring to me.
